OMAHA, NE – The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that Michael Zucker will join the Lancers as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming 25th Anniversary season.  Zucker spent each of the last two seasons as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at the University of Denver and prior to joining the Pioneers, he was an Assistant Coach with the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Everett Silvertips.

“Michael comes to us after five years with two outstanding programs and three high end coaches,” said Bliss Littler, Lancers Head Coach/GM.  “Michael will be used in all areas including helping run practices, recruiting and video sessions.  We’re excited to have him.”

In two seasons at the University of Denver, Zucker helped guide the Pioneers to an overall record of 50-22-9 leading to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.  Prior to joining Denver’s staff, Zucker spent three seasons in Everett under former NHL Head Coach Kevin Constantine.

Zucker, who is entering his 14th season of coaching, also head-coached a Tier 1 Midget AAA team (Northwest Admirals) to a State Championship during his time in the Seattle area.

Zucker, a native of Morganville, New Jersey, earned his master’s level coaching certification (Level 5) from USA Hockey in the Spring of 2001 and is now teaching the Level 2, 3 and 4 coaching clinics as part of USA Hockey’s Coaching Education Program (CEP).

The Lancers 25th Anniversary season begins Friday, October 1st at 7:05 PM when Omaha hosts the expansion Dubuque Fighting Saints at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.  Omaha's preseason begins Friday, September 10 when the Lancers travel to Kearney, Nebraska to take on the Tri-City Storm.

Season tickets for the 25th anniversary season of Lancers hockey are currently on sale by contacting the Lancers front office at 344-PUCK (7825).  For more information, visit www.lancers.com.
