Monday, February 1, 2010 - Submitted by Dan Fremuth

OMAHA, NEThe Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) conclude their three-game home stand tomorrow evening with a visit from the Sioux City Musketeers.  Omaha (27-9-3, 57 Pts.) is coming off a pair of one-goal defeats this past weekend but remains atop the West Division standings with a two point edge over second-place Fargo.  Meanwhile, Sioux City (17-16-3, 37 Pts.) has dropped three of its last four contests overall entering Tuesday’s match-up and now rests a full five standings points back of Tri-City for the fourth and final playoff spot in the West.

The Lancers look to remain unbeaten against the Musketeers after claiming each of the four prior regular season meetings.  Omaha claimed the only previous get-together at the Civic Auditorium with a 3-2 regulation victory back on November 13th.  The other prior meetings all took place at the Tyson Event Center’s Gateway Arena in Sioux City and all landed in the win column for the Lancers.  Omaha opened the season series with a 4-1 win in Sioux City before claiming 4-3 and 5-3 road wins on November 7th and December 31st, respectively.  After tomorrow’s meeting, the season series continues on Saturday, February 27th in Sioux City before concluding Saturday, March 27th back in Omaha.

Matt White leads all scorers in the season series having registered six points (two goals, four assists) while Erik Haula and Dennis Brown are tied for second with four points each.  Ryan Carpenter has paced all Sioux City skaters in the season set with three points (two goals, assist).  A big part of Omaha’s success against Sioux City has been the specialty teams.  The Lancers are 6-for-20 (30%) on the power play against Sioux City having registered at least one power play goal in each of the previous four meetings.  Meanwhile, the Musketeers power play has yet to record a power play goal head-to-head against the Lancers despite 23 man advantage opportunities in the series.  Sioux City’s power play currently ranks 13th among the USHL’s 14 member teams at just 13.8%.

Tickets for tomorrow evening’s Lancers game will be available Tuesday at the Omaha Civic Auditorium Box Office beginning at 10 AM.  Tickets can also be purchased by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com.
