Fargo erased an early Omaha lead and scored the final three goals of the game as the Force dropped the Lancers 3-1 Saturday evening at the Urban Plains Center. It’s the first time Omaha has dropped back-to-back games in regulation time this season and now places Fargo in sole possession of first place in the West Division for the first time this season. The Force have now won six consecutive games and have garnered at least one standings point in each of their last 19 straight games. The Lancers are now 28-11-3 on the year.

Omaha, as it did in last night’s meeting with Fargo, used the power play to grab the game’s opening marker when Ryan Daugherty threw a snap shot from the slot past Fargo goaltender Dayn Belfour for his 16th goal of the season. Mathieu Brisson and Dakota Eveland earned the two assists on Omaha’s league-leading 30th first goal of the season netted 3:04 into period one. Fargo evened the contest just 17 seconds later when Johnnie Searfoss wristed in his 13th marker of the season. Colten St. Clair grabbed the only assist on the 5-on-5 even strength marker. The Force then grabbed their first lead of the contest with just over two minutes remaining in the period when Garrett Allen got wide on the right wing before slipping a backhand shot inside the left post past Omaha’s Jeff Teglia. Nick Oliver and Nicholas Romanick assisted on the even strength marker, which proved to be the eventual game-winning goal. After a scoreless second period and predominantly scoreless final frame, Fargo landed the final nail in the coffin when Corey Leivermann buried an empty net goal with just 50 seconds left in regulation. Chase Grant grabbed the only assist on Leivermann’s 13th marker of the season.

Fargo’s Belfour required just 15 saves on 16 Omaha shots to earn his fourth victory of the season. Meanwhile, Teglia did his best to give the Lancers a chance as he turned aside 31 of Fargo’s 33 total shots. Teglia is now 22-9-2 on the year.

The Lancers are back in action this Thursday evening when they head to Des Moines to battle the Buccaneers.
