27 Former Lancers Set for NCAA Tournament

Omaha Represented on 14 of 16 Teams

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ralston, NE – Twenty-six former Lancer players are set to participate in the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey tournament when the puck is dropped at the four regional sites this weekend. In addition to the 25 players, former Omaha head coach Frank Serratore will lead the Air Force Academy.

The Lancers are represented on 14 of 16 teams and have multiple alumni on seven squads. Harvard has the most former Lancers of any team in the field with four, while Cornell, Union, and Providence all have three.

North Dakota, with former Lancers’ captain Tucker Poolman and Shane Gersich on the roster, will attempt to repeat as national champions. Last season Poolman and Gersich were joined by fellow Lancers alumni Thatcher Demko (Boston College), Matt Gaudreau (Boston College), and Nolan Zajac (Denver) at the Frozen Four in Tampa, FL.

Four different sites (Fargo, ND; Providence, R.I.; Manchester, NH; Cincinnati, OH) will host four team regionals. First round games of the single elimination tournament will start Friday. The winner of each regional will advance to the Frozen Four at Chicago’s United Center, April 6-8.

Providence:  Jacob Bryson, Ryan Tait, Hayden Hawkey

Ohio State: Matt Joyaux

Union: Tyler Hynes, Eli Lichtenwald, Connor Light
