Lancers To Make Coaching Change
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ralston, NE – The Omaha Lancers and head coach/general manager Brian Kaufman as well as associate head coach Chris Michael agreed to a mutual split, the organization announced on Sunday afternoon.
Kaufman joined the Lancers as an assistant coach for the 2012-13 season. He was then promoted to head coach for the 2013-14 season. In four seasons at the helm, the Miami University graduate compiled a record of 121-91-14-14.
“Brian Kaufman is a hard-working, highly capable individual. He and coach Michael represented our organization with the utmost class and professionalism,” stated Lancers owner Koots DiCesare. “We felt at this time that we needed to go in a new direction. We thank them for their hard work, dedication and contributions to Lancer hockey over the last four seasons.”
Michael had been with the Lancers as an associate head coach since the 2013-14 season.
“The heritage of the Omaha Lancers is one of championships. It is incumbent upon us to do everything we can to meet that standard of sustained excellence,” said DiCesare.
The Lancers will begin a search for a new head coach immediately. Assistant GM and head of scouting Keith Sullivan will serve as interim GM and conduct the search.
