Ralston, NE –The Omaha Lancers, proud members of the USHL, announced the hiring of Gregg Naumenko as Associate Coach and Assistant General Manager on Wednesday afternoon.

Naumenko joins the Lancers after working as a Goalie Development Coordinator for the state of Illinois among many other roles in youth hockey in the Chicago area. The Chicago native has worked closely with USA Hockey at National Select Camps, and District Evaluations. The former goalie spent nine years with the Chicago Young Americans hockey club serving as VP/Director of Hockey Operations, as well as the Midget U16/U18 Head and goalie coach.

“I am extremely excited and thankful to the Lancers organization for a great opportunity.  I look forward to being a part of a culture that breeds excellence,” said Naumenko.

The Chicago, Illinois native spent seven seasons playing professionally including stops in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, and KHL. Naumenko appeared in over 250 professional games finishing with 111 victories. In his rookie season the netminder was named an AHL All-Star, posting a .906 save percentage and a 2.98 goals against average.

Prior to turning pro Naumenko spent three seasons in the USHL with the North Iowa Huskies. A USHL All-Star, Naumenko attended the University of Alaska-Anchorage for one season where he was named WCHA Rookie of the Year, First Team All-WCHA, All-Rookie Team, and Four-Time WCHA Player of the Week. Upon the conclusion of his Freshman season Naumenko signed with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks beginning his seven-year professional career. The netminder was also a part of the 2002 USA World Championship Team.

Naumenko lives with his wife Jackie, and son Lincoln.

Omaha opens the preseason on September 14 against Sioux City. The Lancers then open the regular season on October 6 at home against Tri-City.

Single game tickets for both preseason and regular season go on sale September 14 at 10 am.
