Ralston, NE —The Omaha Lancers announced a trade deal Friday with the Johnstown Tomahawks of the NAHL. In the deal, the Lancers acquired Goaltender Vincent Purpura and Defenseman Hunter Carrick.
Purpura played 10 games for the Tomahawks this year and has a 3.81 GAA and a .902 SVS%.
“ Vinnie brings us another veteran presence at the goaltending position,” said Head Coach David Wilkie, “He is a big and athletic goaltender with junior experience.”
Carrick, played 16 games for the Tomahawks this season totaling two goals and three assists.
“Hunter is a very solid, mobile, 2-way puck-moving defenseman,” said Wilkie. “That (type of play) will help us break pucks out of our end zone much quicker in order to allow us to play a faster north/south brand of hockey.”
The Lancers traded; Erlends Klavins, Andrew Nedeljkovic, and Danny Petrick to Johnstown.
Klavins played two games for the Lancers this season. Nedeljkovic played five games and had one assist. Petrick played in 7 games this season for the Lancers and had one assist.
“These were not easy decisions that we had to make,” said Wilkie, "but in the end, we have a better hockey team today with the additions of Mitchell, Purpura, and Carrick”.
The Lancers return to the ice on Friday, October 27th to face the Des Moines Buccaneers. Face-off is at 7:05 pm and can be heard on News Talk 1290 and seen on Hockey TV. Tickets are still available, visit the Ralston Arena box office or visit lancers.com for more information.
