Ralston, NE -- The Omaha Lancers faced the Des Moines Buccaneers at Ralston Arena on Friday. This was the first meeting between the two teams this season. The Lancers welcomed new faces to the lineup on Friday with the addition of Hunter Carrick (D) and Travis Mitchell (D).
Late in the first period, Mick Kohler found the back of the net to beat Jake Kucharski to give the Lancers a lead and momentum heading into the first intermission.
Kohler kept his foot on the gas as he rang in his second goal of the night to give the Lancers a 2-0 lead with 5:33 left to play. The Lancers continued to pucks on Kucharski with a total of 18 shots on net after the second period.
The third period was quiet until the literal end. Mick Kohler got his third goal of the night with one second left to give him a hat trick and the Lancers a 3-0 over Des Moines. Zach Driscoll stopped all 25 shots that he faced giving him his second shutout of the 2017-18 season.
The Lancers hit the road next week to face the Dubuque Fighting Saints in Dubuque on Friday. That game starts at 7:05 pm and can be heard on News Talk 1290, and Hockey TV.
