Ralston, NE -- Omaha Lancers goaltender Zach Driscoll announced Thursday morning that he will be returning to college to play for the Bemidji State University Beavers.

“I’m really excited to be back home. Obviously growing up playing hockey in Minnesota, playing college hockey there is a big deal and getting the chance to stay her was something I was extremely excited about in Bemidji,” Driscoll said.

Driscoll, 20, an Apple Valley, Minnesota native, is in his second season with the Lancers. Last year the goaltender played college hockey at St. Cloud State University. Driscoll played 14 games for the Huskies and tabbed a 3.18 GAA and a .888 SV%. Before that, Driscoll played for the Lancers in the 2014-15 season where he was in net for 18 games and had a 2.86 GAA and a .897 SV%.

“It’s definitely been a journey,” the goaltender went on, “But I think in the long run all the experiences I’ve had have done nothing but help.”

This season, Driscoll is ranked second in Top Goalies in the USHL with a 1.89 GAA and a .921 SV%. Zach also received his fourth shutout of the year against the Sioux City Musketeers on December 9th. Driscoll and the Lancers will return to the ice after the USHL Holiday break, December 28th.

“This is the most excited I’ve ever been to get back to playing after a break,” Driscoll said. “We have a really good team in Omaha this year, and I’m excited to get back to work with the group of guys we have. Everyone is buying into the system that Coach Wilkie has put in place and it is working for us. I definitely have to say thanks to Wilkie and the team for helping me get to where I wanted to be.”
