Ralston, NE -- The Omaha Lancers faced the Waterloo Black Hawks Friday night. This was the second meeting between the two teams in the past week. Waterloo blanked Omaha in the last meeting, 3-0.
In the first period, Filip Suchy got Omaha on the board. Cole Gallant assisted Suchy on the goal to give the Lancers the lead heading into the first intermission.
In the second period, Waterloo broke the tie with a goal from Jack Drury. Drury found the puck off of a shot to sneak it in past Vinnie Purpura. Omaha answered back quickly when Filip Suchy got the puck past Matej Tomek again. Lancers lead 2-1 heading into the second intermission.
In the final seconds of the third period, Waterloo pulled Tomek for the man advantage. Jack Drury got his second of the night with 27-seconds left to force overtime.
In overtime, Filip Suchy got the puck past Tomek for his third goal of the game and first hattrick of the season. That was Suchy’s 8th goal and 19th point of the season. The Lancers took the win over the Black Hawks, 3-2.
Vinnie Purpura stopped 25 of the 27 Waterloo shots that he faced.
