Lancers beat Stars, 6-2

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lincoln, NE — The Omaha Lancers traveled west to face the rivaled Lincoln Stars on Friday night. This was the first match between these two teams of the season. It was also the first time Lincoln native and ex-Star, Ethan Price, has returned to the Ice Box since the 2014-15 season. Lancers also welcomed back familiar faces to the lineup, Mick Kohler, and Aleksi Peltonen. Zach Driscoll was called to play between the pipes after being named the USHL Player of the Week, stopping 35 of the 36 shots he faced last week against the Tri-City Storm

In the first period, Lincoln got the first strike with a quick shot from Philippe LaPointe 6:34 into the period. Omaha soon answered back with a goal from Jack Randl (8) assisted by Mathieu De St. Phalle. Nearing the end of the period, Ethan Price (8) scored in front of his hometown to put the Lancers up 2-1 heading into the first intermission.

During a hard-fought second period, Mathieu De St. Phalle found the puck next to Tomas Vomacka’s net to get the Lancers ahead, 3-1.

Less than a minute into the third period, Christian O’Neill (10) netted the puck from a pass from Mathieu De St. Phalle. Lincoln soon got back on the board with a goal that trickled past the goal line off of a shot from Collin Peters. The Lancers kept on the attack. In his first game back since the USHL winter break, Mick Kohler (6) sniped the puck past Vomacka. Then, 5:59 to play, Filip Suchy (13) sealed the 6-2 win over the Lincoln Stars.

Zach Driscoll stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced. Omaha had 16 total points scored in tonight's match. The Lancers improved to 17-8-2-0 and now sit at 3rd place in the Western Conference and in the USHL overall.
