Nightingale Returns from Retirement

Lancers Assistant Coach out of retirement for one ECHL Game

Ralston, NE -- Coach Nightingale is strapping them up one more time.

Jared Nightingale, got the call Saturday to sign a one day contract with the Quad City Mallards (ECHL). Jared will return to the ice for the first time since his retirement from professional hockey with the Chicago Wolves last Spring. 

“I’ve missed playing the game so much,” Nightingale said. “This is a special opportunity, I’m thankful God has given me this opportunity to play one more game.”

This is his 13th season of professional hockey. The Michigan State Spartan has made stops in the AHL and ECHL. Nightingale totaled 201 games in the ECHL playing for Toledo, Hartford, Idaho, and Charlotte. While in the ECHL, the abrasive defenseman totaled 545 PIM and has a total of 140 career fights. Nightingale also totaled 42 points in the ECHL.

Jared and the Quad City Mallards hit the ice today at 4:05 pm CT to face the Cincinnati Cyclones in Moline, Illinois.
