Nelson Sends Lancers past Stampede in OT, 3-2

RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers defeated the Sioux Falls Stampede in overtime on Friday night in front of a sold-out crowd by a final score of 3-2. 

In the first period, Jan Kern (11:04) found the puck off of a wraparound shot from Harry Roy to sneak it past Calvaruso. The Lancers kept the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

In the second frame, the Stampede evened the score 1-1 with a goal from Anthony Romano (8:11). The game stayed tied up 1-1 into the second intermission. 

In the third period, Aleksi Peltonen (1:17) scored unassisted to get the Lancers ahead 2-1. With seconds left to play, and with an empty net, the Stampede evened the game at 19:42 to force overtime.

In the extra frame, Jaxon Nelson (1:42) broke past the defense to score on a breakaway to get the Lancers the 3-2 win.

The Lancers are now 23-21-4-4 with 54 points on the season.
