LINCOLN, NE - The Omaha Lancers took down the Lincoln Stars on Friday night by a final score of 6-2.
In the first period and on the power-play, Rhett Pitlick (2:42) netted his third goal of the season to get the Lancers ahead 1-0. Minutes later and also on the power-play, Christian Sarlo (6:17) evened the game 1-1. The Lancers would go back to work with Pitlick and Ross Mitton getting the Lancers ahead 2-1 at 8:03.
In the second frame, the Lancers came out fast with Logan Will (2:54) scoring his first of the year. Cam Berg and Brian Silver were assisted on Will's goal. The Lancers found themselves on the power-play again where Grant Anderson (4:19) would score his first of the season assisted by Jack Randl to make the score 4-1.
Randl (0:46) would kick off the scoring in the second period scoring his second of the year on the power-play. Matt Sutton would add another goal for the Lancers making the score 6-1. Late and on the power-play, Matthew Barbolini would score for the Stars. The Lancers would end the game on the power-play winning 6-2 over the Stars.
The Lancers are now 5-6-2-0 on the season with 12 points. Kyle McClellan stopped 26 of the 28 Stars shots he faced in the victory.
The Lancers return to action next weekend for a series against the Black Hawks in Waterloo. Puck drop on Friday is set for 7:05 pm. All of the action can be heard on News Talk 1290 and seen on HockeyTV.
