SIOUX CITY, IA - The Omaha Lancers defeated the Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday night by a final score of 4-1. Ross Mitton netted his first USHL hat trick in the third consecutive win for Omaha over Sioux City.

After a scoreless first period, Ross Mitton (2:49) got the Lancers on the board. The goal was Mitton’s sixth of the year and he was assisted by Brian Silver. The Lancers kept the 1-0 lead going into the second intermission.

Early in the third period, Gabe Blanchard (0:50) would even the game 1-1. The Lancers took back the lead later in the period with Ross Mitton (8:49) netting a highlight-reel goal driving the net, toe-dragging the puck and snapping it in past Haider. The Lancers kept on the attack and went on the power play where Jack Jensen (13:14) snipped the puck from the high circle to get the Lancers ahead 3-1. As a last-ditch effort, the Musketeers pulled Haider for the extra attacker. Mitton stayed on the ice and battled past the Musketeers defense to score an empty-net goal to get the Lancers a 4-1 win. Mitton finished the night with 4 points (3G, 1A) while Kyle McClellan stopped 15 of the 16 Musketeer shots he faced in the win. The Lancers are now 17-12-6-1 on the year with 41 points and currently sit at 4th place in the USHL Western Conference.

The Lancers return to the ice on Friday, February 7th  to battle the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM with all of the action on KOIL 1290 AM and HockeyTV.
