LINCOLN, NE - The Omaha Lancers held on to top the Lincoln Stars by a final score of 5-4 on Friday night at the Ice Box.
The Lancers came out in the first period hot with Alex Campbell (1:47) netting his eleventh goal of the year. Campbell dug the puck off of the right wall and cut toward the net and sniped the puck in past Jacob Mucitelli. Later in the period, Zach Plucinski (15:54) fired the puck from the right point in past Mucitelli to get the Lancers a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.
In the second frame, the Lancers kept the pace of the game. Daniel Hilsendager (2:07) tipped the puck in on the power-play to add to the lead. Seconds later, Alex Campbell (2:28) found the puck loose to the side of Lincoln’s net to score his second on the night getting Omaha ahead 4-0. Chase Bradley (11:03) added to the Lancers lead scoring a beautiful backhanded goal making the score 5-0. The Stars would answer back scoring two goals late in the second to get the score 5-2 to end the period.
In the third, the Stars turned up their game scoring two more unanswered goals on the Lancers. Brock Bremer (3:47) followed by Travis Treloar (15:28) getting the score 5-4. The Stars pulled their netminder to try and tie the game, but could not find the back of the net on Kyle McClellan. The Lancers would hold on to win 5-4 over the Stars.
The Lancers improve to 18-12-6-1 with 43 points and still hold the spot at 4th in the Western Conference.
