RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers were beaten by the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday night at Ralston Arena by a final score of 5-1.
The Gamblers came out of the gates quickly with Jake Schmaltz (2:11) netting his 12th of the season. Green Bay kept on the attack late with a last-second goal from Kyler Grundy (19:52) to get the Gamblers ahead 2-0 into the first intermission.
The Gamblers continued their offensive attack into the second period with Ryan O’Reilly (16:38) followed by Zabaneh (18:48) scoring a shorthanded goal. Green Bay kept the lead going into the second intermission 4-0.
The Lancers would break the shutout in the third period with a goal from Luke Mobley (8:48) netting his 3rd goal of the weekend and his 20th of the season. The Lancers would then pull Kyle McClellan for the extra attacker but the Gamblers would score on the empty net for a final score of 5-1.
The Lancers are now 27-13-7-1 with 60 points and still hold the second-place spot in the Western Conference.
The Lancers return to action on Friday against the Des Moines Buccaneers at Buccaneer Arena. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM.
