RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers have announced a trade Tuesday morning with the Muskegon Lumberjacks acquiring Forward Alex Gaffney.
In the deal, the Lancers traded a 2021 Phase I 4th Round, 2021 Phase II 4th Round, a 2022 Phase I 3rd Round, and a 2022 Phase II 1st Round draft pick in exchange for Gaffney, a 2021 Phase I 10th, and a 2022 Phase II 10th Round draft pick.
The 18-year-old forward had 44 points (14 goals, 19 assists) in 47 games played last with the Lumberjacks last season. In his two seasons in the USHL, Gaffney appeared in 104 games totaling 55 points (27 goals, 28 assists). Gaffney also appeared in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup playing in 4 games and totaling 3 points, and the 2020 USHL/NHL BioSteel All American Game.
“Alex is a proven USHL Veteran, and we are excited to have him join our team this year,” General Manager and Head Coach David Wilkie said.
Gaffney, a West Orange, New Jersey native is committed to playing NCAA hockey at Harvard University.
The Lancers return to the ice for the first time this season Sunday in Lincoln, NE for game one of the 2020 Corn Cup. Puck drop is set for 3:05 PM.
