Lautenbach scores with 1-second remaining

RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers went down to the wire to win against the Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday night by a final score of 3-2.

In the first period, Sioux City scored the lone goal at 12:51 to get the 1-0 lead. Tabor Heaslip netted the puck past Jakub Dobes off of a pass from Brendan Olson. Sioux City led Omaha in shots after the first period 9-8.

In the second period, Ryan Lautenbach (10:29) netted the puck past Darius Bell to even the game 1-1. Nolan Renwick started the play with a pass to Jack Jensen, who then passed the puck off the backhand right to the crease where Lautenbach buried it. The Lancers attack continued when Liam Devlin (14:08) netted his second goal of the season to get the Lancers their first lead of the night, 2-1.

In the third period, Ben Steeves (10:49) evened 2-2 the game for the Musketeers. Late in the period, Nolan Renwick was called for a Checking from Behind penalty at 18:09 to set the Lancers at a man disadvantage. The Musketeers were moving the puck deep in the Lancer's end, where it was broken up by Omaha and sent ahead to Sam Antenucci. On the breakaway, and shorthanded, Antenucci shot the puck at Bell, it dribbled past him where Ryan Lautenbach (19:59) touched the puck over the goal line to get the Lancers the 3-2 win with time expiring.

The Lancers are now 5-2 on the season and sit at second place in the USHL West with 10 points. Dobes stopped 16 of the 18 shots he faced in the win.

The Lancers are back in action on Friday, December 11 in Kearney, NE to face the Tri-City Storm. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM. All the action is on MixLR and HockeyTV.
