RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers announced a trade with the Tri-City Storm on Monday morning. In the deal, the Lancers acquired Goaltender Grant Riley.
In the deal, Omaha traded a 2022 2nd Round Phase I and a 2022 4th Round Phase II draft pick. In exchange, Tri-City sent Goaltender Grant Riley (2002), a 2021 8th Round Phase II, and 2022 5th Round Phase II draft pick.
"The goaltending position is always a complicated riddle to solve," Head Coach and General Manager David Wilkie said. "We felt like we needed more depth at that position, which is why we made the switch."
The Rochester, NY native has appeared in 2 USHL games this season. Prior to the USHL, Riley played in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) for the Janesville Jets where he played in 37 games with a 15-19-2 record and a 3.15 Goals Against Average, and a .911 Save Percentage. The six-foot-four-inch netminder is committed to Boston College.
The Lancers have also released goaltender Cooper Black.
"We wish Cooper the best in his future endeavors," Wilkie said.
