LINCOLN, NE - The Omaha Lancers dominated the Lincoln Stars on Saturday night by a final score of 7-1.
The Stars struck first on the power play when Jack O’Brien (2:34) scored from the slot on Jakub Dobes. The Lancers answered back when Mike Posma (4:28) tipped the puck past Ryan Ouellette to even the game 1-1. The goal was Posma’s first as a Lancer. Omaha took the lead when Nick Perna (9:35) scored from the blue line making the score 2-1.
In the second period, Ayrton Martino (4:07) netted his first goal as a Lancer on the breakaway to get the Lancers ahead 3-1. Halfway through the period, Kyle Bettens (11:10) snipped the puck in for his fourth of the season. Soon after, Nick Perna (12:15) netted his second goal of the night getting the Lancers ahead 5-1. The Stars pulled Ouellette and called on Guy Blessing to finish the game.
In the third period, Martino scored twice earning his first career USHL Hat Trick. The goals came 46-seconds away from each other (10:01, 10:47). The Lancers would end up winning 7-1 to sweep the Stars in the weekend series. Jakub Dobes stopped 26 of the 27 Lincoln shots that he faced. The Lancers improve to 11-8 on the year with 22 points and have reclaimed the 2nd place spot in the Western Conference.
The Lancers return to the ice on Tuesday, January 19th to face the Waterloo Black Hawks at Young Arena. The puck drop is at 7:05 PM. All of the action is on MixLR and HockeyTV.
