WATERLOO, IA - The Omaha Lancers defeated the Waterloo Black Hawks by a final score of 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night.
In the first frame, the Black Hawks took a 1-0 lead when Ryan O’Hara (4:51) netted the puck past Dobes from the slot.
In the second frame, Tyler Carpenter (3:03) evened the game 1-1 as the power-play expired. The Black Hawks would regain the lead later in the period when Ryan O’Hara (9:44) netted his second of the game for a 2-1 score.
In the third period, the Lancers evened the game up again on a power-play when Owen Fowler (3:34) scored, making the score 2-2. Fowler shot the puck from the left half-wall where it bounced off a Black Hawk defender into the net. The Lancers went on the penalty kill where Michael Cameron (11:37) netted the puck shorthanded off of a Waterloo turnover. Cam Mitchell raced down the ice to break the puck away from Glockner then passed it to Cameron who sniped it in for the goal. Late into regulation, Ryan O’Hara (16:37) netted his third of the night to tie the game 3-3 forcing overtime.
In the extra frame, the Lancers went on the power play for a 4-on-3 man advantage. Nolan Renwick (3:11) found the puck loose to the side of Glockner to sneak it past him for a 4-3 overtime win. Jakub Dobes stopped 29 of the 32 Black Hawks shots he faced, earning his 11th win of the year.
The Lancers are now 12-8 on the season with 24 points and a spot at second in the Western Conference.
