FARGO, ND - The Omaha Lancers took down the Fargo Force on Friday night by a final score of 4-2 in game one of the two-game weekend series.
In the first period, Cody Monds (0:27) scored to get the Force ahead early. The Lancers went on the power-play midway through the period, where Nolan Renwick (8:58) netted his eighth goal of the year to even the game 1-1. Nearing the end of the period, Trevor Griebel (19:23) netted the puck past Dobes from the high slot to take a 2-1 lead.
In the second period, Owen Fowler (13:05) evened the game 2-2 after tipping the puck in off of a shot from Kennedy O’Connor. The Lancers went on the penalty kill nearing the end of the second when Ayrton Martino (18:57) scored on a short-handed breakaway for a 3-2 lead.
In the final frame, Nolan Renwick (1:20) snapped the puck in the net past Brennan Boynton after receiving a saucer pass from Michael Posma on the right-wing. The Lancers kept the Force at bay for a final score of 4-2. Jakub Dobes stopped 34 of the 36 shots he faced on the night.
The Lancers are 15-14 with 30 points and sit at 4th place in the Western Conference.
The Lancers and Force are back in action tomorrow night at Scheels Arena. The opening puck drop is at 6:05 PM. All of the action is on MixLR and HockeyTV.
