Stars Beat Lancers in OT, 5-4

Lancers earn one point in OT loss

RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers and Lincoln Stars went back and forth in a game that would end 5-4 in overtime. 

The Lancers opened up the first period with a goal from Liam Devlin (3:24) scoring on Ryan Ouellette. Devlin received a pass from Cam Mitchell while on a two-on-one crashing the net. The Stars would even the game 1-1 with a goal from Dominic James (9:30) shooting the puck past Reilly Herbst.

In the second frame, the Stars took a 2-1 lead when Veremyev (6:42) scored. The Lancers would even the game again at 2-2 when Kienan Draper (15:20) snuck the puck past Ouellette. Micheal Posma went in below the goal of Ouellette, who was out to play the puck, and stole it from him then passed it to Draper for his second goal this season. Soon after, the Stars Mayorov (16:25) netted a power-play goal for a 4-3 Lincoln lead. The Lancers evened the game late in the second with a goal from Zach Dubinsky (16:59) to end the period with a 3-3 score. 

In the third frame, the Lancers called on Jakub Dobes in place of Reilly Herbst. The Stars went up 4-3 when Stan Cooley (3:03) netted the puck past Dobes. A few minutes later Owen Fowler (5:08) scored an unassisted goal on a two-on-one beating Ouellette five-hole for a 4-4 tie. 

The game went into an extra frame where the Stars would score for a final score of 5-4. The Lancers are 6-1-1 against Lincoln this year. 

The Lancers are now 23-18-1-1 on the season, earning a point on the night moved them into 3rd place in the USHL Western Conference.
