RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers defeated the Sioux Falls Stampede by a final score of 7-3 on Sunday evening.
The Lancers opened up the first period with a goal from Ryan Conroy (6:15) scoring from the slot to beat Burnham. Ayrton Martino and Zach Dubinsky assisted Conroy on his second goal of the year. The Lancers kept on the attack when Cam Mitchell (7:46) snapped the puck past Burnham for a 2-0 lead. Liam Devlin and Nolan Renwick were called on the assists. The Stampede got on the board when Cole Sillinger (10:15) shot the puck from the left circle to beat Dobes for a 2-1 score. The Lancers went on the penalty-kill late in the period with Conroy in the box for hooking. Sioux Falls lost possession of the puck deep in their zone with Owen Fowler on the forecheck. Fowler then threw the puck to Zach Dubinsky (18:51) who sniped it past Burnham for a 3-1 Lancer lead.
In the second frame, Kyle Bettens (2:58) netted his seventh of the season for a 4-1 lead. The Lancers kept on the attack scoring a power-play goal from Michael Posma (16:00) to extend the lead 5-1.
In the third period, and on the power-play Ayrton Martino (0:32) scored on a one-timer beating Grannan, who came in to aid Brunham, for a 6-1 lead. The Stampede scored their second of the night with Will Dineen (10:11) followed immediately by a goal from Jack SMith (10:24) for a 6-3 score. The Lancers went back into attack mode when Kyle Bettens (16:39) netted his second of the game and what would be the final goal of the game for a 7-3 final score.
The Lancers are 24-18-1-1 on the season with 50 points and sit at 3rd place in the USHL Western Conference.
The Lancers return to action on Friday against the Tri-City Storm at the Viaero Center in Kearney, NE. The opening puck drop is set for 7:05 PM. All of the action is on MixLR and HockeyTV.
