OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers appoint Rob Rassey as its next general manager. Rassey comes to the Lancers with depth and breadth of hockey experience including most recently as Director of an elite hockey academy, TPH Chicago, and, prior thereto, as a scout for the Detroit Red Wings for 2 years, an assistant coach at Harvard for 6 years, and an assistant coach in the USHL for 2 years. Rassey is a magna cum laude graduate of Northeastern University and holds a graduate degree in management from Harvard. As a player at Northeastern, Rassey was 4-time Hockey East All-Academic while also leading his team to its first NCAA tournament appearance in twenty years.

"Rob is the perfect fit for our organization at this time," said Mike Picozzi, majority owner of the Omaha Lancers. “Rob’s high-end talents and experience in the NHL, USHL and college ranks will elevate our hockey program and take it to the next level. His personal characteristics including his players-first mentality, positive energy and work ethic are exactly what we were looking for in our general manager.”

"I’m honored to join the Omaha Lancers and contribute to its proud tradition," said Rassey, "I’d like to thank Mike Picozzi for his belief in me and also Koots DiCesare and Pat Dapuzzo with whom I began discussions about this opportunity. I am excited to apply my leadership and player development skills to help create an identity and culture for the Omaha Lancers that is second to none. Coach Gary Graham is doing an amazing job with the team, and I very much look forward to working with him."

The Lancers, celebrating their 35th year in the USHL, have won 7 Clark Cup championships and 5 Anderson Cups. The Lancers have clinched playoff berths in 3 of the last 4 years and are poised for another playoff run this season, presently residing in 3rd place in the Western Conference standings. The Lancers will be back in action at Liberty First Credit Union Arena versus the Lincoln Stars on Sunday, February 6th. Puck drop is 4:05pm, and the game can also be seen on HockeyTV and Mixlr.
