RALSTON, NE – Omaha Lancers’ goaltender Kris Oldham will remain in Omaha, NE following his junior career after committing on Thursday to the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).
“It's an unbelievable feeling and a dream come true,” said Oldham. “UNO offered an ideal situation for me and most importantly a world class education. This is a very exciting day for me but I would also like to acknowledge my teammates and the Omaha Lancers organization for helping my reach my goals.”
The Anchorage, AK native came to the Lancers this season after spending last year with the Kenai River Brown Bears in the North American Hockey League. Oldham has spent 19 games in net for the Lancers and has an 11-4-3 record, 2.71 goals against average, and a .898 save percentage in over 1,000 minutes played.
“We couldn’t be happier for Kris and can’t wait to have him back in Omaha for his collegiate career,” said head coach Brian Kaufman. “Nebraska-Omaha is a great fit for Kris and we’re very excited for what the future holds for him.”
The Mavericks are on a tear this season in the NCHC sitting at the top of with a 16-7-3 overall record and a 10-5-1-1 in-conference record. The ‘Mavs are one point ahead of second place North Dakota and three points in front of third place Miami (OH). Other members of the conference include Minnesota-Duluth, Denver, St. Cloud State, Western Michigan, and Colorado College.
The Lancers finish the five game road trip on Friday night in Kearney, NE as they face the Tri-City Storm for the 7th time this season before return home on Saturday night for “Pink in the Rink”.
