Ralston, NE – Noah LaLonde scored in his first game against his former team but Youngstown topped the Lancers 4-1 on Friday night.
Former Lancers Pierce Crawford and Jake Gingell combined on the game-winning goal in the first period.
Youngstown jumped on the board early in the first. Bradley Cocca attempted a wrap-around but Tommy Nappier made the initial save. The rebound kicked out to Tommy Apap who snapped off a quick shot beating Nappier, giving the Phantoms a 1-0 lead. Pierce Crawford got the second goal of the night, scoring against his former team. Jake Gingell, also a former Lancer, dished the puck to an open Pierce Crawford in the high slot. Crawford took a quick wrister that beat Nappier high, giving Youngstown a 2-0 lead.
In the second Youngstown would add another tally from Chase Gresock to take a 3-0 lead into the second intermission. The third yielded another Phantom goal before Omaha would get on the board. Short-handed Austin Pooley pressured Tommy Nappier and intercepted his feed up the wall. Pooley connected with Evan Wisocky who buried the puck into the net, giving Youngstown a 4-0 lead.
Omaha got on the board a mere five seconds later though. Off the draw Noah LaLonde took the puck and sprinted down the right wing. The former Phantom snapped a back-hand pass over the far pad of Kulbakov, cutting the lead to 4-1. The power play tally snapped an 0-for-17 streak on the man-advantage for Omaha. LaLonde’s tally ended up being the Lancers lone goal of the night as Youngstown skated away with a 4-1 victory.
Tommy Nappier made 24 saves on 28 shots in the loss. Ivan Kulbakov made 15 saves in the victory, his 26th of the season.
