Draft Picks Will, Kucharek Make NCAA Commitments
Both Players Commit to NCHC Schools Ahead of 2017-18 Season

Ralston, NE – A pair of Omaha Lancers draft picks announced their college commitments as forward Logan Will announced his decision to attend Colorado College, while defenseman Jared Kucharek committed to Western Michigan University.
Will, the Lancers 15th round pick in the 2017 Phase II USHL Draft, spent the last two seasons playing for Lancers bench boss David Wilkie as a member of the Omaha AAA 16U team.
“This is a goal that I’ve been working towards for a long time,” said Will. “It’s exciting to have made my commitment, but there’s still a lot of work to do before I get there.”
In 25 games with Omaha AAA last season the forward notched 25 points (11g, 14a), finishing fifth on the team in scoring. A native of Ames, IA, Will will join former Lancer Brian Williams and the Tigers for the 2019-20 season.
“I loved everything about CC. The school is great, and I love the area,” said Will. “The coaching staff is turning the program around, and I’m looking forward to being part of something special there.”
Kucharek, the Lancers fifth round pick in Phase III of the 2017 Draft, announced his commitment to Western Michigan University late Wednesday.
“I am very excited and humbled to have an opportunity to play Division I college hockey for Western Michigan University,” said Kucharek. “The coaches and players made me feel that WMU and Bronco Hockey was home. The program has developed many players who have move on to the next level and finished last season ranked in the top ten. It is a program I want to be a part of to continue my education & hockey career.”
Kucharek played the majority of the 2016-17 season with Meijer AAA 18U. The defenseman finished third on the team in scoring averaging a point per game (8g, 15a, 23pts). The defenseman also appeared in two games for the Robertson Cup Champion Lone Star.
“My focus right now is getting prepared for a successful season with the Lancers! The whole Lancer organization from the ownership to the coaches, players, volunteers and fans have made me feel welcome and I want to exceed their expectations!”
The Lancers will open the regular season on October 6 at home against Tri-City. Single game tickets will go on sale in September, the exact date will be announced at a later time.
