Ralston, NE -- Omaha Lancers' affiliate Barrett Brooks (2001) has committed to play college hockey for Western Michigan University.
“I’m super excited and honored to have gotten the chance to take this next step in my hockey career,” Brooks said. “I could not be happier with my decision to go to Western Michigan. I am very excited to be noticed for my accomplishments.”
Brooks is a native of Stevens Point, WI and spent the last season with Team Wisconsin U16. Brooks is the captain of his squad this year. Brooks will also be accompanying current Lancer, Jared Kucharek at WMU.
“Growing up in Kalamazoo and watching my dad coach for Western always made me strive to become a Bronco someday,” Brooks said.“Having that dream come true 15 years later is an amazing feeling.”
In 22 games last season, the forward tallied 39 points (15g, 24a).
“It was an honor to have gotten picked up by such a great organization like Omaha,” Brooks said. “I look forward to what I can give to the team in the future and to add a commitment on top of that is such an amazing feeling.”
