Lancers win 5-0 over Tri-City

Ralston, NE -- The Omaha Lancers won their first home game of the 2017-18 season Sunday night against the Tri-City Storm. The Lancers were hot off of a big win (5-1) verse the Roughriders in Cedar Rapids Saturday night. That momentum toppled over into Sunday night as the Lancers blanked the Storm, 5-0.

Jack Randl starting the scoring for Omaha just 23 seconds into the first period. Christian O’Neill started the play as he wrapped around the back of Filip Larsson to find Jack Randle wide open at the bottom of the left circle to one-time the puck past Larsson. 5 minutes in now, Nick Perbix threw a stretch pass to a wide-open Jack Randl who scored on the breakaway giving Omaha a 2-0 lead. The second frame started with another quick goal from the Lancers just 21 seconds into the second. Christian O’Neill started the play as he brought the puck down the right wing wall. O’Neill then took it to the bottom of the right circle, crossed into the crease to pull in Larsson and fed the puck to a wide-open Marshall Rifai who slammed the puck into the net. The Lancers kept Tri-City from scoring during the entire second period and led 3-0 heading into the second intermission.

In the third period, Christian O’Neill scored on his own deflection off of Larsson to give Omaha the 4-0 lead. Jack Randl took the puck into the zone and left it at the right circle for O’Neill. O’Neill then took it across the right side of the crease, shot it, found the deflection and put it in past Larsson. On the penalty kill late in the final period, Christian O’Neill stole the puck from Tri-City while they were behind Larsson’s net to circle back around the net and sneak it backhand through the goaltender's legs.
