Late Rally Leads Roughriders Past Lancers, 4-1

Ralston, NE -- The Omaha Lancers faced the Cedar Rapids Roughriders Friday night at Ralston Arena. The Lancers first win of the 2017-18 season came from the Roughriders on October 14th when the Lancers traveled to Cedar Rapids and won 5-1. Vinnie Purpura got the nod for starting goaltender in the matchup.

In the first period, Jack Randl got on the board for the Lancers with 12:09 left to play. Brenden Furry drove the puck to the side of the net and Randl was there to slam it past Jiri Patera. Randl was also named to the WJAC today to play for team USA in Nova Scotia in December.

In the second period, Cedar Rapids got on the board beating Purpura on a power-play goal to tie the game 1-1.

In the third period, the game shifted into the Roughriders favor. Midway through the period, Jordan Timmons slide the puck past Purpura to give the Roughriders the 2-1 lead. Cedar Rapids continued to test Purpura when they scored with 3:59 left to play. Then with one second left, Roman Ahcan sealed the deal with an open net to give Cedar Rapids the 4-1 win.
