Ralston, NE -- Omaha Lancers Forward, Filip Suchy has been named to the USHL’s Player of the Week. Suchy shares Player of the Week honors with Defenseman, Carter Long (Lincoln Stars) and Goaltender Matt Jurusik (Sioux City). Suchy is the third Lancers to receive the honor this season.
“We are very happy for Filip,” Head Coach David Wilkie said. “He has continued to get better every day for our hockey team and he has most certainly earned this USHL recognition.”
Suchy, a Horni Lukavice, Czech Republic native has played in 15 games for the Lancers this season. He came in late to the season after undergoing surgery on his knee due to an offseason injury. Since then, Suchy has become a top forward for the Lancers with 16 points. Suchy is on a roll with seven goals and 10 points in his last three games.
“His play of late epitomizes what the Omaha Lancers culture is all about,” Wilkie said.
Filip played for 47 games for the Lancers last year and finished the season with 29 points, 15 goals, and 14 assists.
The Lancers are on a hot streak winning 8 in a row and are 10-1-1-0 in the past 12 games. The biggest streak for the Lancers was back in 98-99 when the team won 14 in a row.
