Ralston, NE -- Two Lancers were named to the USHL’s Players of the Week on Monday. For the second time, Zach Driscoll and Filip Suchy received the league honor. Driscoll and Suchy share the Player of the Week honors with Defenseman, Colin Felix (Madison).
“Obviously it’s it a pretty cool honor to receive for the second time,” Zach Driscoll said. “We played a great game as a team and it made things a lot easier on me. Tri-City is a very talented team and above us in the standings, so that was a really big win for us.”
Driscoll, a native of Apple Valley, MN, has been between the pipes for 16 games this season with a record of 8-4-1-0. Driscoll stopped 35 of 36 shots against the Tri-City Storm January 6th to give the Lancers their 16th win.
“Zach has done a fantastic job for our hockey team this year on and off the ice,” Head Coach David Wilkie said. “We are extremely happy for him and is certainly well deserving of this league recognition.”
Driscoll's performance this year has placed him among the best goaltenders in the USHL. He currently sits at 2nd place with a 1.85 GAA and a .931 SV%.
Suchy, a Horni Lukavice, Czech Republic native has played in 20 games for the Lancers this season. Suchy has been electric of late for Omaha, netting 12 goals and dishing out 10 assists for a total of 22 points. In the past 10 games, Suchy has 16 points and scored a hat-trick against the Waterloo Black Hawks on January 5th.
“He (Suchy) absolutely has earned this USHL recognition for the second time in the last three weeks,” Wilkie said. “He leads through actions and is a vital cog in our team this season.”
Filip is one of the top goal scorers for the Lancers, sitting a few points behind Christian O’Neill (24 Points) and Cole Gallant (24 Points).
“Filip has continued to be an impactful player every day for our hockey team and has done a terrific job,” Head Coach David Wilkie said.
