Muskegon gets draft pick in deal

RALSTON, NE - Another trade deal between the Lancers and the Muskegon Lumberjacks was finished on Wednesday afternoon. Head Coach and General Manager David Wilkie announced the signing of goaltender Zach Borgiel (2000) in exchange for a tenth-round pick in the 2019 USHL Phase 2 Draft.

“Goaltending depth is something that we value in this organization from a lot of different standpoints,” Wilkie said.

Borgiel, 18, a native of Fort Gratiot, MI, started his career in the USHL last season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound netminder played in 11 games with the Jacks where he finished the season with a 3.66 goal against average (GAA), and a .863 save percentage (SV%).

“ Zach has played in the league and is a talented player with a bright future in the game," Wilkie said. "We are happy to have him in Omaha.”

Borgiel has played with current Lancers within the Honeybaked organization and in the NAHL. From 2013-17 Borgiel has shared the ice with Mathieu De St Phalle and Ryan Savage with Honeybaked Bantam Major AAA and Honeybaked 16U squads. Last season, Borgiel played alongside Lancers forward Ben Perkins with the Brookings Blizzard (NAHL). Borgiel played in 15 games with the Blizzard and recorded a 3.47 GAA and a .890 SV%.
