RALSTON, NE - Omaha Lancers Head Coach and General Manager David Wilkie announced a trade on Wednesday afternoon. The Lancers have acquired forward Austen Long (98) from the Lincoln Stars in exchange for a 2019 6th Round Phase II Draft pick.
“Austen is a tremendous character hockey player,” Head Coach David Wilkie said. “He brings speed, grit and a strong veteran presence to the ice and locker room for our team.”
Long, a native of Blaine, MN is a USHL Veteran, Clark Cup Champion and a product of Omaha AAA.
“He has won a championship in this league that we feel is important,” Wilkie said. “We are excited to welcome Austen into Lancer Nation.”
The 5’11” forward has made stops in the USHL playing with the Tri-City Storm, Chicago Steel where he won a Clark Cup in 2016 and the Lincoln Stars where he was an Alternate Captain. Long has played 133 career games in the USHL and has combined for 41 points.
Omaha is set to start the regular season against the Waterloo Black Hawks at the 2018 USHL Fall Classic in Cranberry Township, PA. The Lancers will then face off against the Tri-City Storm for the 2018 home opener on Saturday, October 5th at 7:05 pm. To see the Lancers home schedule click here.
