RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers were defeated by the Tri-City Storm 2-1 Sunday evening at Ralston Arena.

Goaltenders Brian George made his debut in the black and orange. George spent last season with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres playing in 35 games with a 2.89 GAA and a .917 SV%.

After a scoreless first period, the Storm took a two-goal lead in the second period. The first came from Ian Murphy (6:49) on the power-play. Later in the period, Jake Crespi (18:09) capitalized on a breakaway to beat George to take a 2-0 lead. The Lancers answered back late when Mathieu De St Phalle (19.59) scored on a backdoor pass from Brian Silver. The play started in the Storm zone when Jerry Harding worked the puck up the right board. Harding then passed the puck to Silver who found a wide-open De St Phalle to get the Lancers on the board. The Lancers trailed 2-1 heading into the second intermission.

In the third period, the Storm kept the Lancers from getting any momentum. The Lancers pulled George for an extra attacker but could not find the back of the net on Saville. The Storm topped the Lancers with a final score of 2-1.

George stopped 19 of the 21 shots that he faced in his first showing as a Lancer.

The Lancers continue the preseason with a game against the Waterloo Black Hawks on Tuesday, September 18th at Young Arena. Puck drop is at 7:05 pm and can be seen on HockeyTV.
