Third Period Comeback Falls Short in Shootout

Sioux Falls Defeats Omaha in Shootout, 4-3

RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers fell in a shootout to the Sioux Falls Stampede on Sunday evening at Ralston Arena.

Early in the first period, Chase Bradley (0:16) scored his first USHL goal and the Lancers only goal of the period. Austen Long and Jaxon Nelson received the assists on the Bradley goal. Sioux Falls scored late in the period to even the game 1-1. The Stampede then took advantage of a late power play goal to hold the 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Stampede added to their lead early in the second period with a goal just 30-seconds in. Sioux Falls kept a 3-1 lead going into the second intermission.

In the third period, Grant Anderson (2:33) scored his second goal of the year on the power-play. Anderson was assisted by Cam Ginnetti and Tyler Carpenter. The Lancers pulled Kucharski for the extra attacker nearing the end of the period. At the dying seconds of the game, Jaden Shields (19:58) took a slap shot that found the back of the net to force overtime.

No goals were scored in the extra frame, which forced a shootout. Sioux Falls scored on two of their four chances to win the game in the shootout with a final score of 4-3. The Lancers are now 6-9-0-2 with 14 points.

The Lancers return to the ice on Friday, November 23rd to face off against the Tri-City Storm in Kearney. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm and all of the action can be heard on KOIL 1290 AM and on HockeyTV.
