Lancers Fall in OT to Musketeers, 4-3

Three-goal third period forced OT: Hillman, Kawamura score 1st Career goals

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Omaha Lancers were defeated in overtime by the Sioux City Musketeers by a final score of 4-3.

In the second period, the Musketeers took the lead when Vijami Nieminen (12:04) found the puck loose inside of the slot to snap it past Tommy Aitken. The Musketeers kept the 1-0 lead going into the second intermission.

In the third period, Dominic Vidoli (1:02) opened up the scoring. The Lancers answered back to get their first goal of the night from Jack Hillman (8:49). The goal was Hillman’s first of his USHL career. The Musketeers took a 3-1 lead after a video review took place at 9:51. The Lancers rallied back after the midway point of the third when Aleksi Peltonen (13:34) scored on a penalty shot. Nearing the dying minutes of the period, Kyle Kawamura (18:53) tied the game 3-3 in his Lancers debut.

In the extra frame, the Musketeers scored to solidify a 4-3 win. The Lancers are now 8-16-1-2 on the season with 19 points. 

The Lancers return to the ice Friday, January 4th in Bloomington, IL to face the Central Illinois Flying Aces. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
