LANCERS HEAD TO WATERLOO FOR THURSDAY SHOWDOWN, WEEKEND SERIES AT HOME AGAINST YOUNGSTOWN

 

RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers (11-18-1-3) will play host to the Waterloo Black Hawks on Thursday, then return home for a weekend series against the Youngstown Phantoms.

Thursday will be the first showdown between the Lancers and Waterloo Black Hawks this season. The Black Hawks come into the Thursday night tilt with a spot at third place in the USHL Western Conference. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm.

Saturday and Sunday the Lancers will play host to the 2017-18 Eastern Conference Champions, the Youngstown Phantoms. The weekend will be the first matchup between Omaha and Youngstown this year and on top of that, it will be the first time Lancers goaltender, Jon Mor will be facing off against his ex-squad. Saturday’s puck drop is set for 7:05 pm. Sunday is Hockey Fights Cancer Night in partnership with the American Cancer Society. Hockey Fights Cancer unites the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. This joint initiative gets an assist from the entire hockey family. Together, the hockey community looks to inspire hope and courage for those who are living with, going through and moving past cancer. This season, Hockey Fights Cancer will benefit the American Cancer Society patient services programs, such as Hope Lodge communities, a free place to stay for cancer patients and their caregivers when they must travel away from home for their cancer treatments. The Lancers will also be holding a special "Paint the Ice" event concluding Sunday evenings game. Fans are asked to make a charitable donation to the American Cancer Society before taking the ice. Puck drop on Sunday is at 4:05 pm.
 

Lancers Notes (11-18-1-3):

  • Ryan Savage leads Lancers forwards in scoring with 19 points (8-11-19)

  • Travis Mitchell is the top scoring defenseman and has dished out the most assists for the Lancers (0-10-10)

  • Tyler Carpenter has been lighting up the scoresheet earning 6 points in the past two games for a total on the season of 16 points (8-8-16)

  • Goaltender Stats

    • Akira Schmid: 2.46 GAA and a .914 SV%

    • Jon Mor: 3.00 GAA and a .885 SV%

 

Waterloo Black Hawks (22-10-3-1):

  • Matej Blumel leads the Black Hawks in points and is ranked 2nd among scorers in the USHL with 45 points (23-22-45)

  • Hank Sorensen has put up the most points for all Waterloo Defenseman (4-19-23)

  • Goalie Stats:

    • Logan Stein: 3.00 GAA and a .885 SV%

    • Jared Moe: 2.81 GAA and a .905 SV%

 

Youngstown Phantoms (16-14-1-3):

  • Youngstown will take on Tri-City in Kearney Friday night prior to facing the Lancers at Ralston Arena

  • Brett Murray has the most points of all Phantoms (20-24-44)

  • Gianfranco Cassaro leads all Phantom defenders in points (7-20-27)

  • Goalie Stats:

    • Christian Stoever: 3.82 GAA and a .874 SV%

    • Chad Veltri: 3.89 GAA and a .875 SV%
