RALSTON, NE - The Lancers fell in overtime in game two of the weekend series against the Youngstown Phantoms on Saturday night by a final score of 3-2.
In the first period, Jan Kern cashed in on the first power play chance of the game. Kern found the puck to the side of Veltri and shot it off of the goaltender to have it bounce into the net. The Lancers kept the 1-0 lead going into the first intermission.
In the second period, the Phantoms evened the score at 3:12. The game stayed tied 1-1 going into the second intermission.
In the third period, the Lancers took back the lead when Ryan Savage deflected a shot in from Christian DiCesare at 4:26. Late in the final frame and with the extra attacker on the ice, the Phantoms scored backdoor on Schmid to even the game 2-2 at 19:17 to force overtime.
In the extra period, Trevor Kuntar threw the puck towards the net of Schmid, hitting the skate of Ryan Savage which then deflected into the net. The Phantoms took the win 3-2 in overtime. The Lancers are now 11-19-2-4 on the year with 28 points.
