RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers rallied back against the Sioux City Musketeers on Friday night after to win 4-3 in a shootout.
Sioux City scored three unanswered goals to kick off the opening period. The Lancers pulled Jon Mor after the third goal and called on Akira Schmid to finish the job. Later on in the period, Austen Long (16:17) tipped in a shot from the point to get the Lancers on the board. Sioux City kept the 3-1 lead going into the first intermission.
In the second period, Jaxon Nelson (16:17) drove through Ben Kraws to tuck the puck under his leg pad to the get the game 3-2.
In the third period and on the power-play, Blais Richartz (11:08) evened the game up 3-3 with a wraparound that was impossible for Kraws to stop. Neither team would score to end the final period so overtime was forced.
After a scoreless overtime period, Grant Anderson was the final shooter for the Lancers. Using the power of the Force, Anderson deked his way past Kraws to backhand the puck into the net to give the Lancers a win by a final score of 4-3. The Lancers are now 14-19-2-4 on the year with 34 points.
