URBANDALE, IA - For the second night in a row the Lancers have gone to a shootout, and have won. Saturday night the Lancers and Des Moines Buccaneers went down to the wire where the Lancers took the shootout win 3-2.

It was not until the second period the Lancers scored the nights first goal. Cole Kodsi (14:37) tipped the puck in past James Durham getting his seventh goal of the season. The play started with Jackson Decker at the left point passing it to Jan Kern on the right point who unloaded a one-time-shot. The Lancers kept the 1-0 lead after the second period.

In the third period, the Buccaneers scored back-to-back goals to get ahead 2-1. Later in the period and on the power play, Jaxon Nelson (11:52) fired the puck from the blue-line to tie the game 2-2. Neither team scored to round out the remainder of the third period and overtime was forced.

No goals were scored in the extra frame and shootout was forced. The first shooter for Omaha was Aleksi Peltonen ripped the puck past Durham. Tj Walsh shot first for Des Moines and was stoned by Schmid. Travis Mitchell shot second for the Lancers and sniped the puck past Durham. The Buccaneers then sent out Rylee St. Onge who missed the net. The Lancers took the shootout win over Des Moines by a final score of 3-2. Akira Schmid stopped 43 of the 45 Buccaneers shots that were shot his way. The Lancers improve to 15-19-2-4 with 34 points on the season.
