RALSTON, NE - Omaha Lancers forward Aleksi Peltonen has announced his commitment to play collegiate hockey at St. Lawrence University.
“I am super excited and ready for the opportunity that St. Lawrence has given me,” Aleksi Peltonen said.
Peltonen is in his second season with the Lancers has recorded 20 points (8-12-20) in 24 games played this year.
"The Lancers helped me along the whole process. Coach Wilkie has helped me so much on the ice to get where I am now, but also off of the ice helping me realize what I have to do to play at the next level," Peltonen said. "He [Coach Wilkie] has guided me through this process."
The Helsinki, Finland native was with the Corpus Christi IceRays earlier this season where he played in 18 games and totaled 10 points (2-8-10).
“We are happy for Aleksi," Head Coach David Wilkie said. "He has come into our team this year at the right time and provided a spark that we most certainly needed. He is a reliable 200 ft centerman who plays in every situation and his hockey IQ is elite. We wish him the best in his college career at St. Lawrence."
Last season, Peltonen spent time with both the Lancers and IceRays. Prior to playing junior hockey, Aleksi attended Northwood School where he played 113 games over three seasons and totaled 119 points (58-61-119).
"They [St. Lawrence] liked the way I think the game and the skill set I have. I really like the personnel there and I believe they will help me as a hockey player and as a student-athlete," Peltonen said.
