Steel edge Lancers, 2-1

RALSTON, NE - The Chicago Steel edged the Omaha Lancers by a final score of 2-1 for the second time this season.

In the dying seconds of the first period, Jake Schmaltz (19:53) scored to get the Steel ahead 1-0 going into the first intermission.

Early in the second period, Grant Anderson (0:13) hammered the puck from the right point to even the game 1-1. The Steel would take back the lead, 2-1 later in the period when Josh Groll (4:56) found the puck lose to the right side of Akira Schmid’s cage.

The Steel kept the Lancers at bay and would hold on to win 2-1. Akira Schmid stopped 20 of the 22 Chicago shots that he faced. The Lancers are now 18-20-4-4 on the year with 44 points.
